Enjoying Outdoor Living With A Stunning Deck Renovation
Get All The Details.
A deck renovation is more than a mere upgrade—it’s a strategic enhancement that elevates your home’s value. The Kubows were on a mission to revamp their beloved deck while retaining the familiar layout they enjoyed. Motivated by a friend’s recommendation, they reached out to our team to transform their deck. Working with Heartland’s head designer, the Kubows made the decision to entirely replace its aged structure with new materials to enjoy the space for years to come.
Here’s what we did for the transformation:
We Rebuilt From Scratch: The Heartland team removed the original worn lumber structure. The Kubows liked the previous layout, so our team rebuilt the new one using the same footprint with a few enhancements and composite decking for durability.
We Prioritized Durability: Choosing materials that are durable and low-maintenance was important to the Kubows, as their previous lumber deck didn’t withstand the test of time. We chose composite decking and vinyl for affordability and durability.
We Enhanced Safety Measures & Functionality: Our team leveled the top floor, removing the step-down for added safety. We also created more headroom and expanded the lower level to better accommodate the stairs.
Continuing The Tradition By Maintaining The Original Footprint.
Staying true to the Kubows’ wish of maintaining the original footprint became the cornerstone of this renovation. The previous structure was built from lumber, which aged through the different seasons and ended up in rough shape.
We successfully used the same layout and incorporated composite flooring and vinyl railing to help it last a lifetime. TimberTech Deck Boards, one of our preferred materials, offer a lot of benefits for composite deck remodels:
- Lower Lifetime Costs
- Durable & Long Lasting With Lower Maintenance
- Resistant To Water & UV Damage
- Versatile Color & Texture Choices
Design Tweaks For Better Space & Security.
Our team kept the integrity of the original design but made a few minor changes for added safety.
The original deck featured a step-down on the top level, which was unsafe and limited the headroom on the lower level. The redesigned deck removed this step-down to eliminate the risk and increase room on the lower level.
Our designer also expanded the bottom level area outward by 4’. This allowed the stairs to be arranged better in the design.
We Opted For Enduring, Low-Maintenance Materials For Timeless Appeal.
